  12. Happy New Year all.  Since we're swapping New Year's Eve tales:

  14. I did a variation of my Halloween costume, which was a
  15. punk/slut/SM kinda thang: black leather miniskirt, black fishnet hose,
  16. red stiletto heels, red bra with black chemise, a few silver necklaces,
  17. black leather fingerless gloves, leather jacket, steel chain locked
  18. around my waist with handcuffs dangling from it, dark red nails,
  19. black lipstick, and a hint of purple freshly dyed into my hair.
  20. (All right, so this sounds different from the way most of y'all
  21. dress on your outings; it's still crossdressing! :-)  It was  
  22. my first crossdressing since Halloween; part of me was nervous about
  23. doing it without the socially acceptable excuse of Halloween, but
  24. I went with my instincts, which said "go for it".  The evening consisted
  25. of a party at friends' house for about 4 hours first: mostly friends
  26. I knew were there and who'd seen me in drag during October one or more
  27. times.  A few strangers were there who seemed to take it perfectly
  28. in stride, which I found rather nice and encouraging.  Around 1am,
  29. I went with my girlfriend to a "Rave", which was a strange big alternative
  30. music scene at a warehouse in downtown Austin with live music, weird
  31. robotics and computer graphics happenings, dancing, "brain drinks",
  32. performance art, and general technoweirdness.  We only saw one other
  33. guy in drag, but nonetheless I fit in QUITE well.  Several times
  34. people commented favorably, and there was no negative reaction.
  35. Context is everything... don't think it would go over so well at
  36. the office Monday. :-)
