  30.     Personally, I would not want to be mentioned in the same breath
  31. as someone like Adolf Hitler, who engaged in notorious "hate crimes"
  32. against the Jewish, especially since I am a black American, and therefore a
  33. "minority."  That is to say, my friend, that I do not agree that
  34. disapproval reasonably and logically precedes wanton derision, which is
  35. what "bashing" is, and which is ultimately useless and which often cul-
  36. minates in adverse effects.  People have a fine record of reacting ad-
  37. versely to badgering.  As a Christian, and, I truly believe, a reasonable
  38. one, I too am no advocate of homosexuality.  However, wrongness of opinion
  39. deserves civil argument and correction, and no amount of excessive scorn.
  40. Immorality is often a product of one's honest beliefs, and not of willful
  41. contradiction to an opponent's doctrines; this is the case with most, if
  42. not all, homosexual individuals.  You will recall that Jesus Christ him-
  43. self pleaded with God to forgive his persecutors on the basis that they
  44. actually did not realize what they were doing.
  45.     It is anyone's job to judge others based on his/her ethical val-
  46. ues.  But judgment must be without passion, just how America, a country,
  47. an idea, founded on Christian principles, was designed to mediate.
