- : Actually, I think you both make splendid conservatives. However, you would
- : make terrible Republicans.
-
- LIES! SLANDER! LIBEL! OOOOOOOHHH GRRRRRRRR!!!! <stamp foot> <pout> :^)
- Although I think I make a poor Republican, how do my beliefs deviate from
- libralism to the point that you feel comfortable labeling me a conservative?
-
- :
- : Why? Because the Republicans are no more Conservative, in the traditional
- : sense, than are the Democrats, especially with the recent Democratic shift
- : toward moderation. We are left with a choice between secular liberalism
- : (Democrats) vs. corporate totalarianism (Republicans).
- :
- : Traditional Conservativism holds that government should only involve itself
- : in areas where there is a clear need and a clear solution. Both parties
- : have been too busy building empires with the proceeds from special interests
- : to keep site of that principle. The result is that we have a govenment that
- : is involved in =everything= and consequently does more harm than good, on
- : balance. And, on top of all that, they waste a great deal of our national
- : economic resources doing it.
- :
- : We share an unfortunate bond with the former Soviet Union. We have both
- : become addicted to "government." I hope we can start weaning ourselves
- : before we face the kind of economic withdrawal symptoms that they are
- : enduring. If we don't, then it will be just as ugly here.
