- This I find puzzling ... the whole idea of a rave (and the basis of
- the subculture it is spawning) is to get together with people you
- don't know, and meet them. Indeed, if you are going to the rave in
- the first place, you do have one thing in common with those around
- you; appreciation for the music. Music plays a key role in every
- modern culture (and possibly every culture that has come before us).
- For this reason, having a similar musical taste to someone else can be
- considered very important.
- Also, as I have stated before (once in a direct response to the
- person who wrote the original "rave?" thread), ravers are very
- accepting. If you want to read this area to get musical ideas, that's
- great. And even if you want to voice negative thoughts on the whole
- subject, that's fine too -- as long as you can justify what you
- say, and discuss it in a rational, non-condiscending way (which you
- have). I can't speak for everyone, but that is what I believe...
-
- I would like to know, however, if you trust alt.raver's opinions
- and respect their musical tastes, why you think they would be any
- different from someone who you would meet at a rave, but who does not
- use the net? ...as you stated in your message, you _would_ go to a
- rave if you knew people from the net were going to be there (ie.
- DJing).
