- Zaphod is in the Hitchhiker's Guide offices, trying to get to Zarniwoop's
- office, but the elevator refuses to take him up because it can see dimly
- into the future (so it knows when to be on which floor to pick you up), and
- whatever it sees terrifies it. Zaphod tells Marvin to "just get this elevator
- to go up, will you?...". Then the narrator explains the elevator's prognos-
- ticatory abilities, and then the elevator arrives on the fifteenth floor.
- The elevator says "Fifteenth, and remember I'm only doing this because I
- like your robot", and promptly slams its doors shut and drops for the base-
- ment.
-
- Oh- this takes place in _The Restaurant at the End of the Universe_, the
- second book, and originally appeared in the second series of the radio show.
