- Welcome to alt.quotations. Two days after creating the group, I find
- there are 126 messages... It's obviously going to be a high-volume group.
-
- As such, I have some proposed guidelines for posts:
-
- PLEASE use an informative subject. "Here's another one" or "Quotation"
- just won't work - I'd prefer something like "Will Rogers on Politics" or
- "More Albert Einstein quotes". Very few of us are going to have the time
- to read every single article...
-
- MANY of the posts here are going to be corrections to other posts. My
- suggestion: include the text (correction) in the Subject: line. This
- will help people like myself who like to know the quote as accurately as
- possible, and also those who would rather skip corrections.
-
- MOST IMPORTANT: If you have some doubt as to the exact wording of a
- quotation, don't let that stop you from posting - but PLEASE mention that
- it may be inaccurate. Many of us are concerned about such things...
-
- There will eventually be a FAQ and an FTP site for quotations, and when
- that happens there should be an informal rule to avoid posting quotes that
- are already there. However, for the moment, anything goes.
-
- Thanks for reading this, and thanks to all of you who made alt.quotations
- possible. I'm not in charge - nobody is - but if everyone follows these
- suggestions, we can avoid some of the "noise" in this newsgroup.
