  50. you suggest. When confronted with the depravity of his conscience and
  51. the odiousness of his way, a scoundrel will seize upon Patriotism as
  52. his final justification. (Whereas, the incompetent will become
  53. violent.) These sayings are, to use your phrase, about X more than
  54. they are about Y.
