- >The 'moon elf' rode his recently acquired steed, Onyx, up to the aspiring
- >warrior. "Must think you're not playing with a full deck," Zebron offered as
- >an explanation for the stable hand's actions, an explanation that hinted at
- >other secrets as well.
-
- Judge, a full 2 hand spans taller than Onyx, snorted a bit at the approach of
- the 'moon elf'. Mathew pulled his reins in tight to control his horse, and
- smiled at Zebron. Mathew knew he had been the butt of some joke somehow,
- probably some initiation rite. "So Zebron is a practical joker," thought
- Mathew, "I think I'm gonna' like this guy." Mathew casually felt his back for
- a sign, that smile of Zebron's indicated he knew something that he wasn't
- saying.
-
- "Ah, the boy is probably just pissed off at me, and didn't want to say
- so to my face. I should apologize to him."
-
- Zebron smiled.
-
- >As one, the party turned to leave the town. Zebron breathed a silent sigh of
- >relief as they left.
-
- Mathew rode a little apart from the others observing them, and trying to figure
- out his role with this group. Garriot rode up front brooding about something,
- Khisanth and Alric rode close to each other, the cat-bird riding on Khisanth's
- saddle bags, Phillipe and Simon brought up the rear, Zebron rode up front with
- Garriot, a black raven flying above. Zebron seemed to relax some the
- further from town they got. They rode in silence.
-
- Zebron was the most watchful of the group casting glances back at Mathew now
- and again making sure everything was okay.
-
- >An hour's ride and the group was far enough from the town that Zebron could
- >drop his illusion. Not stopping his horse, Zebron rode well in Mathew's line
- >of sight, and the 'moon elf's features blurred and changed. Black hair turned
- >white. The soft features of a moon elf were replaced by the harsh, angular
- >features of a Drow. Soon Zebron Twilight was himself again, a dark elf.
-
- Mathew's eyes went wide as he saw this transformation. He glanced at the others
- in the group to see what was about to happen. No one seemed to notice much,
- he reached for his sword when the 'moon elf' now Drow turned to him and smiled.
-
- >Flashing a wide grin, the dark elf turned towards the newest member of the
- >group, the only one not to know that his 'moon elf' guise was a mere deception,
- >and greeted him, "Well met at last, Mathew. I am Zebron Twilight, the Silver
- >Sword of Eilistraee. And this..."
-
- >The elf's voice trails off as he extends his arm. The raven flying above lands
- >on it, and nods it's head towards Mathew, eyes gleaming with intelligence.
-
- >"...this is Dusk."
-
- Mathew hand was still on his sword when it occured to him, "This is some kind
- of test isn't it? I did a bad job at jumping to conclusions back at the inn,
- and this is some kind of test. Well I'm not falling for it!"
-
- Mathew extended his hand too "Well met, Zebron, I'm Mathew Dawnstrider."
- he shook Zebron's hand vigorously. He looked at the raven and seeing
- the watchful gaze of intelligence "Well met, Dusk."
-
- Mathew, thinking he had passed the test, smiled at the others.
-
- "So where are we headed to Zebron the Drow?" he winked at him in a
- conspiratorially fashion.
