Dear Friends,
I would like to know if anyone has read "The Living One," a new novel from Random House by Lewis Gannett. It's just started to appear in bookstores.
My purpose in asking is that the writer, Lewis Gannett, is a friend of mine. He and I are curious about people's reactions.
I recommend the book to all who like horror. It's a good read, I promise. The book centers around the diabolical and charming Baron Malcolm Spoor and his son Torrance. Spoor has a deep secret--he is older than he looks, much older--and Torrance Spoor is about to find out that the family curse his father has told him about is not a hoax.
But a shadowy government scientist, researching ESP, stumbles on the Baron Spoor and begins to understand his intensions. He finds himself caught between a fascination with Malcom Spoor's awsome power, and the terrible fate that awaits the sixteen year old Torrance.
The story winds its way through "magic, body thievery, killer dogs, ESP wars, and lusty, genre-defying sex," reads the jacket notes. "The Spoors are the ultimate dysfunctional family. Wealthy, shamelessly extravagant, and impossibly attractive, they are also cursed. The curse has been handed down from father to sone for seven hundred years, ever since the crusades, when a bizarre and mystifying event created a recurring pattern of madness and death."
Anyway...enough. Please read the book. Send me your comments. I'll be sure that the author receives them, and of possible, will relay his replies.
