  24. I think you might be quoting Chris a little bit out of context, here, but I'll
  25. leave the final judgement on that to Chris.

  27. Not-too-famous quote from Clint Eastwood, of all people: "If I've had a good
  28. shit, and a good laugh, I've had a good day."  (It made me think the better
  29. of him -- it made me realize anew that getting older is no picnic, even for
  30. Republicans like him who seem to have turned senescence into an elite
  31. profession.  But I digress, as usual.)

  33. Good sex combines the best aspects of one of those wonderful biological
  34. satisfactions with the emotional satisfactions of a good laugh (or a good
  35. cry, for that matter).  But frankly, if I thought that sex would never
  36. offer emotional satisfaction again, I'd stick with masturbation.  Sex is
  37. not a purely excretory exercise in individual endorphin release, and only
  38. a fool would think so.  It is essentially interactive.

  40. I've had lots of sex that I'd rank lower than many good meals, good sleeps --
  41. and good shits, for that matter.   The reason for the lower ranking almost
  42. always had to do with flaws in my relationship with the person I was having
  43. sex with.

  45. And likewise, I've had many good laughs (and good cries) that were better
  46. than lots of sex I've had, and the (often non-sexual) relationship I had
  47. with the person I was laughing or crying with had everything to do with
  48. THAT ranking as well.

  55. profundity.  Sometimes "the obvious" goes by the wayside as people begin to
  56. exercise their intuitions on a new topic.  Sometimes they come around again.
