  22.    I've been watching this thread for what seems like a *very* long time, and
  23. after reading and pondering have found myself with the following conclusions:

  25.    1) Muffy does not understand vicka.  
  26.    2) Vicka is willing to rephrase and try explaining again and again even when
  27. Muffy uses negatively loaded language at her.
  28.    
  29.    These two things on their own make me suspect that Vicka has dealt with this
  30. issue more thoroughly than Muffy.  (Not certain, mind you, just "suspect".)
  31.    
  32.    3) Muffy does not ask respectfully and non-judgementally for clarification of
  33. vicka's beliefs and identity desciptions.
  34.    
  35.    *This* leads me to wonder if Muffy has any real interest in understanding
  36. vicka, or ability to do so.  It's also something I've had to train out of
  37. myself, so it's something easily seen in others.

  39.    Not that either of you asked, but it reminds me of the spats over labelling
  40. in one of my communities, where a certain sexual preference label is pasted on
  41. certain people when they themselves are clearly expressing that they feel
  42. another label fits them better.  
  43.    As one who believes in an individual's right to choose their own
  44. descriptives, I cannot support Muffy's highhanded labelling of vicka, done in a
  45. manner that can only be described as closed-minded and ham-handed.  (If you like
  46. kinesthetic metaphors, that is.)
  47.    It's nonconsensual, and I wish to extend my hand to vicka with an
  48. acknowledgement that Muffy's behaviour in this must be about as much fun as
  49. being attacked by a swarm of our northwoods mosquitos. (Said insects seem about
  50. as easy to reason with, too.)

  52.    Muffy, I think you blew it on this one.  This is odd, since I had been told
  53. of a friend that your posting was pretty good, but I have yet to see any reason
  54. for the admiration in which he held you.  Perhaps you could show some of your
  55. other facets?  I hope and trust there is more to you. (I know, I know, who asked
  56. me?  Still, I have friends who tell me when I'm being a jerk, and on the whole,
  57. I think I'd rather know.)
