  19. 1) How do I get an alias?

  22. 2) I don't need an alias. I just replied to someone's message.
  23.     You received an alias so that the other person can reply to you
  24.     and maintain *their* anonymity.  Besides, it's free :-)

  26. 3) How come my message got cut off?
  27.     The software strips anything beyond a line that starts with "--"
  28.     because it looks like a signature.  Enough sites/users don't
  29.     know that it's suppose to be "-- " (space).  Sigh.

  31. 4) Can you delete/change my address?
  32.     I could, but since nobody else can use it, I'd rather not.
  33.     If you really MUST have the alias deleted, I can just forward the
  34.     mail to /dev/null here.  Send mail to ap-poly.admin@n7kbt.rain.com

  36. 5) Why do I have 'n' aliases?
  37.     A couple of reasons are that you may have posted from different machines
  38.     in or out of your domain, or more likely, your mail took a different
  39.     path to get here, due to rerouting by hosts along the way.

  41. 6) My pings come back, but I haven't seen my message...
  42.     News takes a much more roundabout path than mail, and hence, takes
  43.     significantly longer to get to some sites. News can take 2 weeks
  44.     to reach the most outlying leaf nodes.

  46. 7) Can I post something without the 100-line limit cutting me off?
  47.     The 100-line limit has been removed.  There is currently no limit
  48.     to the size of the message you may post or send.

  50. 8) How do I use this service?
  51.     Read the signature of any anonymous message, or see the companion
  52.     postings on how to use the app ACS.

  54. 9) How do I follow up anonymously?
  55.     Save the article to a file.  Invoke your mailer, address the followup
  56.     to ap-poly.post@n7kbt.rain.com, and read in the file you saved.  Edit to
  57.     your heart's content.  Send it.

  60.      ap-poly.*@n7kbt.rain.com should work.
  61.      uunet!n7kbt.rain.com!ap-poly.* is an alternate.

  64.      No.  There are provisions to post to app, and e-mail only.

  66. 12) How do I post non-anonymously?
  67.      Just do it.  App isn't moderated; anyone can post.  If you need technical
  68.      assistance, ask the news guru at your site.

  70. 13) I would like to post a test message.
  71.      The net and I would rather you didn't. Again, if you sit back and
  72.      read, you'll see that it does in fact work rather well.

  74. 14) How can I cancel an article I just posted?
  75.      You can't.  Within ~30 minutes of receipt of your article by n7kbt,
  76.      the article has already been posted to many machines around the
  77.      world.  Your best bet is to think before you post.  Your next best
  78.      bet is to submit another article retracting what you said in the first
  79.      one.

  81. 15) I sent mail to ap-poly.post but didn't see my article.  What's wrong?

  83.      I have absolutely no idea.  You MUST send me any/all error messages
  84.      you got as well as letting me know exactly how you submitted the
  85.      article and what the Subject: of your article is.  If I don't get at
  86.      least this much information, your request for help will be silently
  87.      ignored (I don't have time to ask people for it).

  89.      You should also ask your local news administrator if you're having any
  90.      problems with news locally.  Other sites may have received your article
  91.      even if you didn't.

  93. 16) What the hell does "n7kbt" stand for, anyway?
  94.      It doesn't.  It's my Amateur (Ham) Radio call sign.

  96. 17) When is the "Short Form" of the instructions posted?
  97.      Every Sunday.

  99. 18) When is the "Long Form" of the instructions posted?
  100.      Twice a month, on the first and the fifteenth.

  102. 19) Can you delete my alias?  I don't need it any more.
  103.      First of all, see #4.  Since I can't reuse the number, it's just as
  104.      well to leave it be, except in cases of harassment.

  106. 20) Why didn't I get a reply to the mail I sent to ap-poly.admin?
  107.      Three possibilities:
  108.        a) I haven't gotten around to answering it yet.
  109.        b) My answer got lost somewhere along the way.
  110.        c) Your question is answered in the Intro postings or the FAQ.
