- uh, Alizard claimed that crucifixion was used only for cases of
- treason? From what I've been taught/told/etc., crucifixion was a
- punishment for "common criminals" - two thieves were crucified at the
- same time as Jesus, according to the Bible (and please, let's not go
- back into discussions of authenticity of the Bible, ok? :) By this
- reasoning, Jesus was regarded as no better than a thief, certainly not
- as a threat to the empire. Granted, usually criminals were <tied>
- during crucifixion, not nailed, but it's the general idea that counts, I
- think...
