  14. uh, Alizard claimed that crucifixion was used only for cases of
  15. treason?  From what I've been taught/told/etc., crucifixion was a
  16. punishment for "common criminals" - two thieves were crucified at the
  17. same time as Jesus, according to the Bible (and please, let's not go
  18. back into discussions of authenticity of the Bible, ok? :)  By this
  19. reasoning, Jesus was regarded as no better than a thief, certainly not
  20. as a threat to the empire.  Granted, usually criminals were <tied>
  21. during crucifixion, not nailed, but it's the general idea that counts, I
  22. think...
