- First of all, the idea of the scrafice upon the cross being the central
- theme of Xtianity did not occur until much later. In the early days of
- Xtianity, and I am speaking primarily of the first and second centuries,
- this was not the case. Today it is emphasized because at some point
- the Xtians were attempting to convert some pagans and the use of the
- pagan cross symbollically with the "death" of Jesus worked.

- No where in that quote does it mention anything about crucifixion (sp). In
- fact, it doesn't refer to anything concerning the "death" of Jesus. God
- sacrificed his son to the world, in effect gave him, or set him down upon,
- the world, to spread the "truth" so that "whosoever believeth in him shall
- not perish".
