  23. Well, considering that the earliest Gospel (Mark) is technically ended at
  24. 16:8, with vs 9-20 being added on only later, and that the alleged post-
  25. resurrection appearances may have been invented, it is no wonder that the
  26. modern churches try to play it down.

  28. On the other hand, it is often said that the Roman Church focuses on the
  29. death of Jesus, and the Protestants on his life, but the Orthodox Church
  30. proclaims his Resurrection.  I must admit that the Easter Liturgy, sung
  31. in traditional manner, is more beautiful than anything else I have
  32. experienced.  The Kontakion goes: "Christ is risen from the dead,
  33. trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing
  34. life."  The icon is similarly meaningful.  (These words coming from one
  35. who is not a Christian, mind you.)
