- "The Lord of the Dance" uses the tune from the Shaker hymn
- "Simple Gifts". I don't know off-hand where the words come
- from; I have a couple of references at home, and I can check
- tonight. Shakers often expressed themselves with movement
- and dance during their meetings, which earned them the
- derogatory label "Shaker" (or "Shaking Quaker"). Eventually,
- they adopted the label for themselves.
