  30. In the early days of Xtianity the cross was not worshipped.  In fact
  31. it was a point of shame that their Christ was crucified.  It was a
  32. social stygma to be associated with someone who was crucified.  And
  33. it was a way of vilifying (sp) the person who was sentenced to death.

  35. The early symbol of Xtianity was the fish, like is becomming popular 
  36. today.  However, just a couple of centuries later, the church was 
  37. attempting to convert pagan peoples in various parts of the world.
  38. They used the method of taking over the pagan places of worship and
  39. holidays and re-making them into Xtian places of worship and holidays.

  41. As I have been told, the cross was an ancient pagan symbol pre-dating
  42. Christ.  It was probably adopted because society no longer had such 
  43. strong stygmatisms towards it and it was easy to convert it over.

  45. NO...I don't have verifiable proof of this.  I do have verifiable
  46. proof of the conversion process.  Just keep in mind Occam's Razor
  47. would ya, just for once.....
