- I think you're being too pessimistic. IMHO, anything that is still being
- discussed and (more importantly) listened to after twenty years has a good
- chance of staying around forever. Yes, Tull, Genesis, Crimson etc. are
- likely to endure, just as the Beatles and (much as I deplore it) the Stones
- (I'd like to hear some evidence for the inventivity you mention). Some
- albums or groups will vanish for awhile and then come back. Crimson #I
- sounds pretty dated to some on this newsgroup, but to me (I'm 21) it sounds
- fresh and crisp as if it was released yesterday. Tull has had a strong
- resurgence in the past 5 years, with people everywhere coming out of the
- closet and proclaiming themselves fans.

- And there's more young metal bands basing themselves on Black Sabbath, who
- for 15 years were taken seriously by nobody. Same goes for Glam as a genre.
