  18. Not at all....which is likely why more mainstream groups (ie Thelema)
  19. are essentially secret societies with fairly extensive initiation/grade
  20. requirements. For the few times the rites are performed in a temple before
  21. a congregation ALL present are prepared for the symbolism by knowing the
  22. philosophy behind it.

  24. And (challenge me with examples if you think I'm wrong) the majority of
  25. sex rites that would take place in temple between HP/HPS are between
  26. individuals already in a committed relationship.

  28. But what the author was postulating was that the rites used by this sect
  29. are a form of mind control over the members....not in keeping with any
  30. set of philosophy or codes.

  35. So whats your point? The public at one time thought homosexuality was
  36. strange and repugnant...but over time gays have received more acceptance
  37. into the community of man than before.

  39. As well, I'm sure Eastern religions were looked down on with disdain but
  40. again over time they gained increasing acceptance in Western Society...and
  41. there is no difference in the relationship of, say Hinduism to Christianity
  42. than Paganism to Christianity. Over time Paganism will gain greater
  43. acceptance and tolerance in society.

  45. But the cause sure isn't helped by lurid tales of sexual brainwashing by
  46. obscure cults...
