- Response:
-
- Harish, I think you were right and honest the first time. Power is the
- major lure to Magick and you knew enough to associate it.
-
-
- Lowell Morrison responds to Harish:
-
- Harish, I read your statments the same way as friend BD. If you intend
- to learn anything about magik, then the first thing to learn is to better
- manipulate symbolism. "a desire for power ect." is generally about power
- over others. If you had stated something like "a desire to gain power
- over myself" or perhaps "a desire to control my own inate power", you
- would not have (IMHO) gotten BD's response.
-
-
- Response:
-
- BD was in a bitchy mood and took it out on Harish. Harish was ambiguous
- and BD (I assume 'BD' refers to Br'an) INFERRED a particular meaning. As
- I see it, this entire thread is a waste of time except for those posts
- which addressed Harish's post directly. Bran simply stirred up a shit-fit
- which has rustled the newbies into a fluster.
-
- As for you, Lowell (Uncle Wolf ;>), perhaps Harish was referring to
- 'self-empowerment'. OR perhaps Magick IS about power and its relationship
- to us. If you'd like to share your wisdom regarding what you think Magick
- is, how it relates to power, and why your awkward manipulation of the
- symbolism called 'the english language' entitles you to be speaking about
- the subject to begin with, I'd be much obliged.
-
-
- Lowell:
-
- It is inhearent in a question, that the question sets the stage for the
- answer. You set yourself up for the response you got. BD was not being
- "simply rude", his statement "magic is not about power-tripping" was good
- solid information, and by it's phrasing (and symbolism) was a request
- to others not to respond until you could work out a better question
- based in part on his response. It seems that you have done that, and
- I hope you get lots of responses that will help you in learning the
- theory and practice of magick.
-
-
- Response:
-
- The kind of power-tripping that BD and you seem so flustered about is
- EXACTLY what you are engaging in. Note that it was BRAN who first
- came on as 'an authority', telling us all what Magick is and is not.
- 'Good solid information' has been very scarce in this thread and I've
- suggested to Harish via email that more success will be had via the FAQ
- and some email questions than to approach the likes of the people who've
- been strutting their penii around hoping to get them licked. ;P Mmmmm
-
-
- Lowell:
-
- My statement (and there are others better qualified) is that
- "Magick is in large part a matter of symbolism and intent, and therefore
- you must master both symbolism and yourself first". I myself have
- real problems with the latter.
-
-
- Response:
-
- This is ridiculous and I'd like to formally challenge it.
-
- :::Thyagi throws down the rubber chicken of challenge:::
-
- Please, explain what you mean by 'symbolism', 'intent' and 'mastery' in
- both of these. THEN, explain what you mean by 'yourself' and how 'mastery'
- may be applied to it. Elsewise, start emailing Harish for some lessons
- on Magick. Thanks.
