- I think you'll find that not everyone on IRC has as many clues as a few
- of us do about hostnames, etc and when they see something out of the
- ordinary, they are most likely going to wonder and/or assume that
- someone has done something to subvert the system they are used to.

- It is quite reasonable, quite indeed, for someone to showup as
- "foo@patriot" on patriot.mit.edu and be on another host. I'm sure
- you can find a plethora of such possibilities by using your very
- skilled mind. If not, then we don't need to be concerned about
- you either, do we ? I know of at least one instance where I can
- do "finger @foobar@foobar.fqdn" and get finger info from a host
- other than foobar.fqdn. I would have thought you would be concerned
- about all people and not just those with brains ?

- If you really wanted to check user@host where host isnt a FQDN,
- then you would do "finger user@host@<server's host>" and with any
- luck, you'll get the correct answer everytime.
