  15. The Egyptians believed that the "ka" or "soul" of a person
  16. lived on in the afterlife.  In their pyramids and burial
  17. tombs they often built fake doors through which the ka could
  18. move from room to room. (The reference to fate that someone
  19. else made seems to ring a bell, too.)  I saw a replica of
  20. a tomb at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose,
  21. California, in a tour where the guide explained the ka to
  22. us.
