- The Egyptians believed that the "ka" or "soul" of a person
- lived on in the afterlife. In their pyramids and burial
- tombs they often built fake doors through which the ka could
- move from room to room. (The reference to fate that someone
- else made seems to ring a bell, too.) I saw a replica of
- a tomb at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose,
- California, in a tour where the guide explained the ka to
- us.
