- Dawnrazor was the one that got me first into them, and is their most raw in
- sheer energy and silk brutality. The Nephilm is the name of their second
- LP, and the one which escaped Gina's memory; in this one they gained a bit
- more refinement and learned to take advantage of the studios, travelling
- away from the spaghetti western image of Dawnrazor and delving into the
- mysteries of the supernatural which also showed in Elizium. The Nephilim
- is still much more of a guitar album, though, than Elizium became.
-
- I find it hard to choose only specific ones to recommend since I AM a
- hardcore, but look for The Nephilm next, then perhaps venture into
- Dawnrazor--since they're both domestic in the US, you at least won't have
- put out as much if you don't like them. THEN you can hunt down their
- really early stuff, like I'm doing...

- Not yet, though I've got Crazed by the remainder of the band (now called
- Rubicon). It's fairly clear that the brutality was Carl's influence, while
- the rest of the band was pushing more for the sounds you heard in Elizium,
- since Crazed pretty much follows suit. The new singer had rather large shoes
- to fill in Carl's place, and...well, at least he's unobtrusive. If I was
- forced to make a comparison, I'd say he sounded a bit like Danzig but
- without so much the Morrison twang.
