Well, the war finally seems to be ending. Mortal Kombat and SF2CE
Hyper Fighting aren't cutting it anymore. The video game public
seems to be growing weary of fighhting games. There's King of the monsters, 1
AND 2, there's Art of Fighting, World Heroes and that other one with the three guys. Then there's Mortal Kombat, which introduced a new (Pit Fighter?) concept
of digitized sounds and graphics was novel for its time, but when people were
desensitized to the gore and violence, the arcades went dead.
And I don't know how many new versions Capcom has in store for us but
they're getting pretty tired. I wonder if they're just stalling to make a SF3?
I know that no one was expecting SF2, so SF3 will never have as much
mass appeal as its predecessor. I have a yearning for some space fighting game
with Virtua Racing (heard of it?) graphics.
The new chip gave Chun Li a fireball, Dhalsim a teleport, Blanka and
Lardass some weird fireball evasives. As if they weren't annoying enough?
Blanka is a real pain in the ass now because he can ball up even when you have
your foot planted snugly in his ugly face. And if that wasn't enough, now he
can ball over your fireballs and land on top of you! And of course, what SF2
chip would be complete without brand-spanking new colors? Here comes Ken and
Ryu with their new clothes. That blue is completely disgusting. But wait'll youfeast your eyes on Zangeif. He looks like a penis with blue tights.
I know it sounds like I'm whining, and I probably am. But to me, and
just about everyone else, the novelty has just worn off. Someone should come upwith a new idea for a fighting game. Duel of the Amputees or something. But
this MK/SF2 thing has long since staled. Someone please send me a response
so that I can see how many people out ther are as bored as I am.
