  12. Have any of you ever been to Gore Orphanage Road? I've been there
  13. several times. It's a genuinely spooky landscape. Don't know if
  14. any ghosts hang out there, but the atmosphere is wonderful for
  15. telling ghost stories.

  17. Local legends say an orphanage there burned down around 1900.
  18. Some variations on the story say the nuns operating the place fled
  19. and left the children to die; others say the kids died because the
  20. doors opened inwards, and in the rush to get out dozens of the orphans
  21. got crammed against the door and couldn't escape the fire.

  23. In any event, rumor has it you can hear the children screaming in
  24. the night & perhaps even catch a glimpse of the ghosts.

  26. I've always wanted to research the local history of the road to see
  27. how much of the orphanage stories are based in fact. I think it's
  28. in Elyria or Vermilion-- can't recall exactly where.
