  29. ....well, 'slike this barnum: Once upon a time (in WW2) there was  United
  30. States submarine, ss-197.  She was called the Seawolf.  Unfortunately for her,
  31. a US  destroyer thought she belonged to a country somewhat to your north and
  32. sunk her, killing all hands.

  34. Then this little fellow named Hyman Rickover decided, with the help of General
  35. Electric, to build another Seawolf (SSN-575), only this time she didn't burn
  36. diesel oil, she split uranium atoms and boiled water using liquid sodium as
  37. the primary coolant.

  40. warships, so he pulled the liquid sodium plant and replaced it with a
  41. pressurized water plant after a couple of years.) 575 was reassigned to

  44. The new Seawolf, SSN-21 (meaning nuclear submaring for the 21'st century) was
  45. designed to be the follow-on SSN to the 688 (Los Angeles class) vessels. Her
  46. future is in doubt. Seawolf was on the drawing board long before Red Storm
  47. Rising.  Clancy had zip point nada to do w/ it.
