  27. There are poor people: that's a fact!  BUT which poor people do we
  28. end up helping today?  Some would argue, with good reason, that the
  29. government supports the deserving AND the underserving.  I think
  30. even you would agree with that.  I think what many on this net
  31. would say (at least I hope they would) is that blind government
  32. handouts do little to foster any self-esteem in any of the
  33. benefactors.  The quality of self-esteem is internalized in each
  34. individual by what he/she DOES.  The government is ill-equiped to
  35. provide incentive for development of moral strength and character
  36. of the undeserving person eating the government's lunch. That's
  37. why, in these cases, the government should stay clear and, hopefully,
  38. someONE will take the time and effort to turn these folks around...
  39. On personal encounters and by example...TEACH THEM!  If they do not
  40. learn to survive, they die...it is that simple.  This goes back to
  41. what you may have heard others say in the past:  "you cannot help
  42. those whom refuse to help themselves."  And, I dare say, that you
  43. SHOULD NOT.  Not if you want to keep your sanity!
