- If it weren't for such wide-spread physical "values" that society and the media
- hype at us, then such "wishful thinking" wouldn't occur now, would it? Note
- that the phrase is "Beauty and brains" not "brains and beauty". The physical
- description comes first, before the personality trait. Primary vs secondary.
- Just as it is on TV, ads, etc... Psychologists will agree that generally the
- *first* thing one says, is how they *really* feel - no matter what they may
- say later to disguise the fact. I've been heavily into studying dysfunctional
- psychology over the last couple of years and it is truly *amazing* how well
- this holds up. I have used this principle in my own self-growth and it has
- worked *wonders* as well as being able to see traits in others that they are
- unaware that they have (commonly known as "denial", whether active or passive)
-
- And if I ever get this weight off, then, yes, such a female WILL exist (as I
- KNOW some exist right now as I type this - and there is no way that I can
- compete with them). I'm not attacking the "airheads". I'm attacking the
- view that the physical aspects of a person are more important than personality,
- and that the general view most men have is that fat women can just go rot...
-
- So, what is the *first* thing YOU notice about a woman? And if they are ugly,
- in any way whatsoever, will you ask them out? Will you even *bother* to get to know them? (I couldn't help but notice your .sig)
-
- Mostly a rhetorical question...food for thought. No answers necessary.
-
- BTW, being fat doesn't bother me. It's a way of life, it's just me, why deny
- it? I'm quite the cheery person, even when discussing diets, etc. And I do my
- best to take part in active sports, often forgetting that my body doesn't match
- my active desires. It's only the view that society has of the clinically obese
- that I find upsetting. Not the fat itself. All I want is to be RESPECTED for
- who I am INSIDE, as well as for my skills and talents, regardless of my physical
- appearance. Sympathy is NOT being sought and will NOT be tolerated.
