- There is nothing in the Constitution that prevents the President from
- granting a self-pardon, especially if impeachment proceedings have not yet
- begun. In fact, rumor has it that Tricky Dicky actually considered it...

- In any case, as far as "Iran-Contra" is concerned, the point is moot: by
- allowing their dogs to shred everything that wasn't nailed down, by doing
- their utmost to cripple justice -- "obstruct" is too weak a word -- for
- more than six years, and by farting in the general direction of Congress
- and the American people, both Reagan and Bush have by now generated enough
- of a smoke screen that they have *effectively* pardoned themselves.
