  20. In 1982, Spirit did a thing where all the horns got in little circles
  21. of 6 to 10 players, arms outstretched around the perimeter of the
  22. circle (this was in the drum solo).  At one point, we suddenly turned
  23. inward and contracted the circles, with horns pointing inward, all
  24. the way down to a very compact clump.

  26. We all just KNEW that this was sure to catch a judge, beacuse of the
  27. way the circles originally formed.  We were all in big arcs that split
  28. up to form the circles, so it was just a matter of time.

  30. My circle finally did catch one, but he was smart enough to just find
  31. the center and stand there.  Unfortunately, this was before the days
  32. of really fast-moving drill, and the circles were stationary on the
  33. field.
