  19. Anyone interested in this subject might want to take a look at the book
  20. _Hypnagogia: The Unique State of Consciousness Bewteen Wakefulness and
  21. Sleep_ by Andreas Mavromatis, who, at the time of writing, was working
  22. on a PhD at Brunel University in England.  The book, which is quite well
  23. researched, it appears, was published by Routledge and Kegan Paul, Ltd.
  24. (1987).  ISBN 0-415-05794-9.  It discusses both hypnagogic (pre-sleep)
  25. and hypnopompic (post-sleep) imagery, and their possible relationship
  26. with other state of consciousness and creativity, as well as their
  27. possible function.  The book contains numerous illustrations and is
  28. quite worthwhile, in my estimation.

  30. I myself had quite vivid and regular hypnagogic images as a child just
  31. prior to the onset of sleep, but have only rarely experienced them in
  32. recent years.  (If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful; maybe
  33. I should go back and read the book more carefully for ideas.  :-)

  39. I'd like to mention that there is now a newsgroup called "alt.out-of-body,"
  40. which deals exclusively with out of body experiences.  Anyone interested
  41. in that subject might want to check it out.  If your news system doesn't
  42. pick up that newsgroup, please drop me a note asking to be added to the
  43. parallel mailing list (I've also set up a special address for mailing list
  44. folks to post to the newsgroup).  If you do write, please mention the out-
  45. of-body mailing list, since I also operate lists on other subjects.  Thanks.
