- Generally speaking, IMHO, body position does not matter much for
- this type of experience. It is more important that the experient be
- confortable with whatever position is assumed, be it the lotus position,
- lion position or what-have-you. The important thing is to get comfortable
- and let the blood circulate freely through the body without constrictive
- clothing getting in the way.
-
- In mystical circles, the strong belief is that the magnetic North
- position is best, as someone pointed out. I have tried it, and circumstances
- have forced me, due to lack of space, to arrange the bed otherwise. The
- evidence which I am able to gather seemed inconclusive on this point.
- Nevertheless, it seems to me that the mind has got the final say, and if
- it is honed in to the task at hand, it will eventually prevail, come what may.
-
- I feel that the paralysis stage is perhaps one of the most important
- signs of early success, something that should be encouraged. From this stage
- onwards, many things can happen, OOBE, LD, etc. The 'paralysis' is a temporary
- condition. It is induced by a very deep relaxation of all the muscles of the
- body, and sometimes, instead of paralysis, the body may jerk a little, which
- is entirely normal.
-
- If the 'paralysis' is desirable, then the next question would be,
- how to make it happen by lying still in the bed for a long stretch of time.
- I only know of one method, through personal experience, and that is, to make
- it a habit, so that it becomes second nature just to lie down and relax.
- It is difficult in practise, of course, the difficulty being the tired body
- usually drift off to sleep zzzz
-
- Lying motionless might also invite some unkind comments from observers
- who may think that the person simply loves to loaf around, like the
- Beetle Bailey (sic) cartoon...
