- Only a few seconds had past between Raven's cry and the sight of the
- figure by the wagon, cluching its chest. Chalmers automatically stepped in-
- front of Raven's limp body, placing himself between her and the two
- oncoming attackers. Instinctivly drawing the metal tube from its
- sheath, Chalmers pressed the green crystal he knew would extend both
- ends to the weapons full length. A razor sharp spike at one end and a
- two pronged fork at the other.
-
- Both attackers had their scimitars raised high in the traditional
- fighting orientation. As they neared the two adventurers they began
- to split up, one attacking from the front the other attempting to
- circle around to Chalmers' rear.
-
- "It's about time we had some fun around here ..." Chalmers thought to
- hemself, spinning his weapon like a batton in the direction of the
- black figure directly ahead. Chalmers began to step slowly to his left
- to see if the attackers would try and continue their attack on Raven.
- Like true warriors they moved with Chalmers, no longer considering Raven
- a formidable threat. Chalmers was able to move the fight away from
- Raven incase she recovered.
-
- As the front attacker gained ground on Chalmers and brought his sword
- down with a forward swing, it was immediatly met by a strong
- resistance, not Chalmers' head as originally planned. Chalmers had
- side stepped the attack and spun around in time to bring his weapon up
- to meet the attackers blade. Being sure to keep the rear attacker in
- his periferal vision, Chalmers parried the second attack and spun
- again, this time lowering his torso and bringing his weapon across the front
- of the first attacker, slicing a crimson gash through the attackers mid
- section from side to side. The attacker froze in astonishment and fear
- just long enough to realize that his head was no longer part of his body.
-
- Chalmers had stepped behind the first attacker, and while looking straight
- at the second attacker, brought his weapon down through the first figures neck,
- from right ear to left shoulder. The body paused, then fell foward, hitting
- the ground about the same time as its severed head. Not waiting for
- the attack from the now bezerked second attacker, Chalmers dove and rolled
- behind the wagon that supported the body of the third, now dead, attacker,
- too slow for Raven's throwing knife.
-
- As the second attacker rushed towards Chalmers he attempted to leap over the
- wagon, but that idea cost it its life. Chalmers had anticipated this move
- and had the fork prongs angled towards the attacker. As the attacker cleared
- the wagon, and began to curl for a roll, it was impailed on the double
- prongs of Chalmers' skillfully handled weapon. The attacker's momentum
- carried it clear of Chalmers and before it landed, just a few feet from
- one of its partners, Chalmers had pulled the prongs from its body and was
- rushing towards Raven. His only thoughts were of her. He re-sheathed the
- now retracted weapon and knelt down beside her.
