  26. Right now we have more technology than we can use.  What we need is 
  27. better programs.  I for instance am posting this over a Waffle System.
  28. This is a MS-DOS BBS that lets me talk to the internet for free.
  29. But it is in many ways, very primitive.  The editor is crap, I have no 
  30. kill file abilities, ect.  If a far better Internet-MSDOS BBS system were 
  31. to come about, this would be of far greater use to the world than a new 
  32. modem with more bells and whistles, or a faster chip from Intel.

  34.   I just got America Online, tho' I have not signed up yet with 'em.
  35. They are one of these outfits that supplies a graphic frontend based on 
  36. Geoworks.  They dont have to supply huge amounts of data for great 
  37. graphics on your end, cause most of the programming is in the system on 
  38. your end.

  40. Imagine systems something like that. Download Graphics, Animation, 
  41. Sounds, VR objects, load into your system and the a few simple commands 
  42. over the modem will let you see ..... ????? and do ??????

  44. Not much done here, huh?  But we have the technology.  Cheap 9600 modems,
  45. cheap accelerated VGA cards,  fast chips with built in math processors.
  46. And BBS systems are still basically the same as when everyone was using 
  47. TTY's and 300 baud acoustical modems.

  49. It is a Programming Problem.  A few systems are taking a crack at this 
  50. approach, (Prism fer example0, but what we have here is a failure to 
  51. utilize our resources to the maximum.

  53. We won't be playing full blown VR games over the net soon, but we should 
  54. be able to do one hell of a lot better than what we have now.

  56. And none of this can be blamed on the hardware side.
