  14. I was watching the news at my mom's house in Southern California, and there
  15. was a rally in the riot-torn part of LA that is (supposedly) getting rebuilt.
  16. Apparently someone (I have not been following this) has proposed that a
  17. tax-free "free enterprise zone" be set up, and the rally was staged to
  18. show the community united against the idea.

  20. One of the speakers proposed co-operative businesses be set up as an 
  21. alternative to the free-enterprise zone.  It was the first time I have ever
  22. heard of co-operative business getting any attention on the television
  23. news.  There seemed to be a lot of support for the idea, too.
