  25. I am very serious about this.  People have generated terabytes of ASCII
  26. cows over the years and there seems to be no newsgroup that these ASCII
  27. cows are welcome in.  Similarly, "cow humor" is very popular at
  28. agriculture-oriented schools and Lord knows we have enough cows here at
  29. Virginia Tech to make cow jokes all the rage.   I feel that a cow-oriented
  30. alt. group would be a good net.citizen and would receive quite a few
  31. postings.  I would, however, support changing the name to alt.humor.cows
  32. as opposed to making it another alt.fan group.

  34. If the people who keep talking about how I've supported zillions of silly
  35. alt. groups actually _check_, they'll find that I sarcastically suggested
  36. alt.dev.null.mnemonics and alt.fan.catch-22.  Neither of which I pushed
  37. vigilantly for and both of which, at the time, were intended as sarcasm
  38. and taken as such by most people who read them and didn't follow up with
  39. bitter flames.

  41. Alt.humor.cows is a serious suggestion.  It is _also_ a suggestion I'll
  42. quietly drop if other people don't post to alt.config supporting it.  I am
  43. floating it here to see if people DO support it; I'm really not interested
  44. in bile posted from that twit at UVA or that crank at Chicago.

  46. If people want an alt.humor.cows group, I'll listen.  If people think that
  47. another group won't be offended if all us cow fans show up there and post
  48. lots and lots of ASCII cows, then I'll listen when they suggest it. 
  49. Rec.pets is out, as the last several times any cow ASCII art has been
  50. posted there, people have gone nuclear.  If people think a better name
  51. than alt.humor.cows exists, then I'll listen to that.  Temper-tantrums
  52. from jerks I don't listen to.
