  12. I am proposing the creation of a new newsgroup called  
  13. alt.comedy.standup.  This group would be the place to discuss standup  
  14. comedy, standup comedians and standup comedy routines.  Discussion for  
  15. comedians who now no longer do standup (either at all or as their  
  16. entire act).

  18. I feel that the group should exist because I think that there is  
  19. suitable interest in standup comedy yet there is no suitable place in  
  20. which to discuss it.

  22. I prefer the "alt" hierarchy to one of the mainstream hierarchies  
  23. because while I think that people discuss the subject, I don't think  
  24. it's as discussed as topics in the "rec" hierarchy (where this subject  
  25. would probably go were it to appear there).  However, should this  
  26. group's popularity expand to prove me wrong, so be it.
