- COBOL, for all its shortcomings "can be a self-documenting language" as is
- widely written and understood. Just as there are "better" languages than
- English, there are "better" languages than COBOL. Butu what language? COBOL
- is here, does file handling, report writing and nnumber manipulation very
- well and is pretty portable, beinbg found as many places as "C" and Pascal,
- more places than BASIC and has been around for years. Those abilities it has
- been lacking are gradually being intorduced, such as case statements. It is
- easier to teach these things to COBOL coders than re-educate all of them.
