- "Well, I took Mary Merrytail's advice and stopped worrying about what would be
- the 'right' way to celebrate the New Year and just did it.
-
- "Nicole and I did a really neat jigsaw puzzle she got me for Christmas--an
- artwork called 'Critters' by Ray L. McGinnis, with another artwork on the
- back of the puzzle. Only 529 pieces, so it only took us a couple of hours, but
- it was worth it.
-
- "Then we went out and rented a few movies. Then we watched them.
-
- "The first one was 'Harvey', with Jimmy Stewart. This is my first Jimmy
- Stewart movie--yes, I've never seen 'It's A Wonderful Life'--and I enjoyed it
- immensely. I highly recommend it as an incredibly heartwarming movie for any
- sentimental occasion.
-
- "The second was 'The Empire Strikes Back'. We recently realized it had been a
- while since we'd seen the Star Wars movies, so we rented 'Star Wars' a couple
- of months ago and now got the sequel. This one didn't age as well, somehow...
-
- "We took a dinner break in between the above two, by the way...but after TESB
- was finished, we checked the movie channel and discovered that 'The Naked Gun
- 2 1/2' was just starting, so we watched that one again. Then we watched 'The
- Maltese Falcon', another first for both of us. Somewhere around the time that
- Mr. Cairo and Miss O'Shaughnessy were both in Spade's apartment, midnight
- struck and we celebrated with a kiss. Then we watched the rest of the movie.
- I can see what all the fuss was about...
-
- "Finally, this evening I watched Pump Up The Volume, the last of the movies we
- rented yesterday. I took this one mostly on a whim, and it was an okay watch.
- It would've been better if I was an angst-ridden teenager, but it still wasn't
- that bad, even though my wife left about twenty minutes into it. Oh, well.
-
- "While I'm on the subject of movies, I highly recommend 'A Few Good Men'. I've
- never given Tom Cruise much credit for acting ability, but he does a damn fine
- job in this one. Nicholson is also excellent as usual. James Marshall(from
- Twin Peaks)does a creditable job as a Marine who isn't all that bright, mainly
- because he's not trying to act above his intellectual level...and not trying to
- be James Dean anymore either."
