- Every time any of the patrons have looked at the counter clock behind
- the bar tonight, it's been showing wildly different times, skipping
- back and forth so that we've had the New Year start four or five
- times already.. time is looping strangely tonight... but of course,
- it's New Year's Eve in the Place.
-
- Mary MerryTail wanders back in (you probably never saw me leave!),
- shedding many layers oj jumpers and abig grey, sweeping cloak.
- "Ooof. It's cold out there."
- One of the jumpers leaves a small pile of snow of the carpet...
- "didn't realise *that would be there. Thanks kitten! Or is that
- wench? Can VAX take care of that? thanks.
- God's Blessing please, Mike, I need to warm up. Well. it's definitely
- 1993 here now and I can confirm Danger Mouse's observations - it's
- dark! Tanais and I walked into town in the fog this evening, dropping
- off tins and bottles at the recycling point and watched the hordes of
- people swarnming. Fancy dress and mostly good humour. Came back and
- spent a quiet evening knitting (have you ever tried to teach a fox to
- hold six pieces of wool at once!?), reading and talking.
- This has been quite a year for me and I'm as sad as glad to see it
- go. I've grown a lot, lost a lot, gained a lot. Endings have become
- beginnings and whole new things have just appeared where I least
- expected them. I'm doing well in so many parts of my life at teh
- moment and I'm *very glad to be back here in the Place. Like I said a
- while ago, something always turns up.That's what we celebrate at the
- turning of year - Hope and the human spirit, turning and renewal.
- And I'm still delighted, surprised and wondering. And of all the
- paces I could have met Ignatz (and nearly did!) I'm very glad it was
- Here. Just like all my other wonderful friends here, as well. Hugs
- and joy to you all.
- I'm going to repeat myself again, a bit - because I can't find better
- words."
- She steps up to the line.
- "To the year that has been and the year that is coming and the timeless time of frie
- ndship. To people, people. To life and growth and pain
- nd endings and beginnings and realising and remembering it's a
- journey - we don't stay static - and to reaching the next wonderful
- place on the road,
- just when you thought you were stuck in roadworks for the foreseeable
- future! To the pasts and the places and the people and the
- happenstances that make futures for us. To the new year and the
- future in it. To us and the Place.
- Allez-oooop!"
- <<<Crash-tinkly-crash>>>>
-
- Hugs and joy and happy new year everyone!
