  21. <giggle>  This reminds me of the time I got sent to the
  22. principal for being a ***communist***.

  24. I had committed the heinous crime of chewing gum in
  25. class.  I don't even remember which class but it was in
  26. 7th or 8th grade.  I got assigned the good ole 500 words
  27. on the thrilling topic "Why I should not chew gum in class".

  29. I wrote (basically) that I should not chew gum as my fellow
  30. students might get distracted and thus not become scientists and
  31. so the Russian students (sans gum chewing disruptors like
  32. me) would get ahead in the Space Race.

  34. The treasonous nature of my essay was made very clear to
  35. me by the principal.  I really thought it was amazingly
  36. idiotic and so did my parents (thank goodness).

  38. I am always amazed at people who had good public school
  39. experiences.  Sad to say, the people I know with the best
  40. educations all went to private schools.
