- Jason chuckles at the exchange between Amanda and Ekho. He's at the table
- closest to the Danger Room, cleaning what at first glance appears to be an
- impressive array of firearms and preparing some explosive devices. At
- second glance, it becomes clear that all are modified for use in paintball
- games. He also has a dozen sets of wrap-around 'combat glasses', the kind
- racketball and martial arts enthusiasts wear, that we can use to keep
- paintball spatter out of everyone's eyes, and folded over the chair next to
- him are several sets of Tyvek coveralls in dark colors, to protect
- participant's clothing.
-
- "Well Amanda, Ekho, Itosu, and the rest of you, I'm just about ready to set
- the Danger Room for my run. I believe Li is in there now, working on hers.
- Yes Ekho, the DR can be set for individual or team play. Liralen and I have
- been discussing how to do this. Each of us will write our own story for a
- solo run through a realistic combat training course. We will make it hard
- enough that we 'might' be able to do it ourselves, if we are really lucky.
- Then we will team up and go through each run together, trying to use
- teamwork to beat the parts that gave us trouble before."
-
- "Since Li and I are both Cyberpunk authors, we have agreed to set our runs
- in the densely urban Seattle Sprawl, circa 2070 Terra, with weaponry and
- opposition to match. You can feel free to set your own however you like.
- Any time period or terrain. Just give yourself a starting point and an
- objective and go for it. If we later team with you on a run, we'll adjust
- our weaponry to compensate for your scenario. If we do a run with one live
- team opposing the other, combat will be paintball -ONLY-, no hand-to-hand
- against anyone other than Argent."
-
- "Targets will be realistic holographic animation, with remotely operated
- paintball guns. They vanish when a -kill- shot hits them. Some targets will
- be 'non-combatants', kids, office workers, etc., who might at first glance
- -appear- to be armed. (Is that a bazooka or a drafting tube he's holding?).
- These have to be identified and -NOT- shot. Others will be 'hostile', with
- realistic weapons at the ready, and must be shot (highest points) or
- avoided. Then there's Argent, Li's training droid. He's running around
- loose in there, taking various forms, and sometimes engaging you for
- hand-to-hand combat. Li calls him a 'friendly' target." <grin> "You still
- have to try to defeat him, but he will also point out your mistakes."
-
- "I will also recommend that all posts for these runs be labeled with
- "DANGER RM RUN" as part of the subject line, so folx who don't want to read
- violent material can kill-file these adventures and avoid them, and so folx
- who -want- to read them can easily identify them."
-
- "Take what you need from the table here, and have fun. I'll post my run in
- the next 48 hours or so, barring unforseen difficulties."
