  14. Reading was the worst - reading out loud, in a circle - I'd never 
  15. know what page we were on because I would read ahead about 50/60 
  16. pages int eh book and be lost when it got to my turn and have to flip 
  17. back a lot - luckily the teachers figured out why but it was very 
  18. frustrating. I remember trying to help a much older friend with their 
  19. reading (unfortunately when the teacher was standing behind us)... 
  20. schools aren't really set up for people who learnt to read *before* 
  21. they got to school....
  22. On the other hand I did have remedial hand-writing lessons when I was 
  23. 16 - didn't help though!
  24. When I did German A level (after doing O level in 2 years from 
  25. scratch (uh - O levels taken at age 16, A leves at age 18)) the 
  26. timetable clashed with Latin so I had - 2 of the eight lessons with 
  27. my year as they had been reschedulued, 2 extra lessons alone with my 
  28. teacher, one extra lesson with the teacher from the next year and 
  29. another odd student and the main 6 lessons with the year above - 
  30. straight in at the deep end made my german come on no end... most of 
  31. it is rusty now but I was very glad of a lfexible system that 
  32. stretched me - it's always worth trying.
