  13. The second hypothesis is the correct one, according to a story in the LA
  14. Times within the last few years.  The "Sig" was a highway department
  15. employee apparently responsible for feeding information on highway
  16. conditions to the media, which honored him with the expression SigAlert.  I
  17. presume a search in the National Newspaper Index or through whatever
  18. electronic database you can come up with would reveal the story in the
  19. Times.

  21. I suggest narrowing the search to the last two years of Times.  I know the
  22. story was that recent.
