- We are in the process of connecting our office to the internet, however,
- I have a variety of questions regarding the best way of offering
- varrious services to our employees.
-
- Our hardware configurations are as follows:
-
- Currently I have KA9Q establishing the routing via PPP to the net. This
- in itself is a questions since I have an old (early 91) version of
- net.exe with some docs but by no means complete. I just got a newer
- (mid 92) version with no docs and it will not operate with my old
- configureations. Where can I get all the infor for KA9Q I need? This is
- especially true in regards to its NNTP support.
-
- Anyhow, we plan on going to Morningstar software for sun (already purchased but
- not able to find the time to install it - I am not a unix hack).
-
- Asside from getting this link up and running, I am interested in any opinions
- regarding setting up news. 50% of our employees are DOS (lan workplace for
- dos) bound and the rest are unix. I would assume the best answer would be some
- NEWS server of some sort. Any suggestions? I am interested in both DOS and
- UNIX solutions (ie. if the server is UNIX based, I need both dos and unix
- readers, same goes for a dos based reader).
-
- I heard some little talk about Waffle but I am not sure if this fills any of
- these gaps.
-
- My main goal is to get things up and running asap. If I can set it up using
- DOS equipment first, that's fine and dandy! I already have KA9Q but I need a
- method of transporting the news, setting up a server, and reading the news via
- DOS and UNIX.
-
- Thanks for any help with all this. If at all possible, please supply ftp sites
- if you offer suggestions.
-
- Thanks again,
- Jon
