- Yes, but at that time it was more acceptable. The mistake came when
- the clergy insisted that Latin was somehow "better" than any other
- language, and kept their Scriptures in Latin instead of translating
- them into the common tongue of whatever nation they were in.

- Yes...saying Masses in English was, I think, one reason for the Church's
- downfall; when they were in Latin, they were beautiful, they were
- mysterious, and they were powerful. Now every Tom, Dick and Harry can
- actually understand what the priest has really been saying all these
- years, and it doesn't sound so nice anymore.
