- Dave: Bobbie, could I just jump in here for a second? I think
- what you're talking about now and some of the experiences you had
- in relation to the way you (muffled). Of course Michael has all
- sorts of sensitive information which are pertinent not only to
- this current investigation which touches on a lot of other
- national security operations, but neither you nor your children
- have been involved in any of this stuff, except in so far as
- you've been married to Michael.
- And by way of pointing out - now the first part of the
- lecture this evening, what I was doing was outlining the
- historical underpinnings, the historical background to the
- disintegration of freedom. Now I've taken it up, in this
- country, through 1950, and as the Cold War developed and as the
- influence of the Gailen (sp?) Organization, as well as the wishes
- of that element of our financial and industrial infrastructure
- was explicitly pro-fascist, and that was a controlling element,
- as they were able to achieve their political will in the United
- States, our political system and our judicial system were
- basically turned fascist. The civil liberties which most of us
- take for granted were completely undermined. This process
- reached a head with the assassination of President Kennedy, and
- with the other political assassinations in this country.
- But the upshot of the Cold War, and of the development of
- history as I've been outlining it has been to achieve a state in
- which the United States is no longer a democracy in which the
- freedoms which most of us take for granted simply do not exist,
- if there is sufficient power brought to bear. I think your
- situation Bobby and that of your children serves as sort of a
- window on what can happen to any "innocent" human being if in
- fact the totalitarian system which has been brought to power, in
- this country, as a result of the Cold War, and of the line of
- historical development going all the way back to the invention of
- fascism in the late 1920's, and this pattern of political
- reaction that I've been tracing so far up through 1950, now it
- has come to the point in the 1990's when things like this can
- happen to innocent women and children.
- And it should be noted that in Nazi Germany, in Mussolini's
- Italy, in the military dictatorships of Latin America and
- elsewhere that have been aided by this country, this is the kind
- of pressure that is brought to bear. If you have a labor leader,
- a union organizer who the local junta does not like, they grab
- his wife and kids and they basically say "Well you've got two
- choices. You can sign this piece of paper which will incriminate
- you and your whole union for subversive activity in which case
- we'll intern you all in Dawson Island Prison, or, you know, we'll
- send you your children's eyes one at a time. Now you have your
- choice." Now, we have achieved a state in this country where
- exactly this kind of maneuvering can be brought to bear, and
- again this is not to function in an exhibitionistic way about
- your situation, but tying in what's happening to you, (muffled)
- it was a line of historical development that I've been tracing,
- this is what it comes to, and I'm going to give you some
- (muffled) we've got another half hour.
- But ultimately, as the economy disintegrates, and our
- economy is going to get worse, not better, and as the environment
- disintegrates and the physical environment, the ozone layer et
- cetera is going to get worse, the amount of freedom that can be
- allowed the average citizen is going to disintegrate along with
- it, it's going to be reduced along with it. Technology, genetic
- engineering, so called UFO's, the use of weather and seismic
- weaponry, these things are under advanced states of research and
- development. All of this is ultimately going to be used to
- create what I see as a technologically based theocracy in which,
- essentially a totalitarian state of government, based on the use
- of sophisticated use of technology will be used to maintain the
- rest of the human race in a state of total subjugation for the
- duration, and eventually this will be moved out into space.
- This is what I see for the future, if I don't get a chance
- to tell you any more about it. Where we are in late 1992 is at a
- stage of development which is exemplified by what has happened to
- Bobbie and her children, who are innocents caught up in a
- national security scandal. Again, take a look at what can happen
- to the judicial process, what can happen to the freedoms that
- most of us take for granted when sufficient pressure is brought
- to bear. This is the kind of political system that attained in
- Hitler's Germany, in Mussolini's Italy, only now it attains in
- the United States. The difference is, that in 1992 there is
- technology available that was not available to Hitler or
- Mussolini, it is available to the political system that has
- developed in this country, along the lines of what Hitler and
- Mussolini wanted, but with technology they would have envied.
-
- Bobbie: Definitely. And, I was amazed. I never had a parking
- ticket before, okay?
-
- Would you say a little bit about the Napa arrest and what those
- charges were, and which children were involved?
-
- Bobbie: I have four children. Michael and I have five children
- (including) his son. At the time that I was arrested, the people
- in the justice department, the law enforcement people that I've
- been in touch with as far as Michael's case went - nearly every
- reporter in the country has known where I was for almost a year.
- There's never been any move towards my children, or me - well,
- very few, how's that? Nothing I couldn't handle. But that day I
- delivered this letter, I went to Kinko's and made copies of my
- letter to Jack Brooks, because as much as I appreciate everything
- he's done, I've learned over the last two years that if I really
- want anything to have an effect, I need to put at the bottom who
- I sent a copy to, and so I included his favorite papers in Texas,
- and my friend at People magazine, and as an after thought, I
- stopped to give a copy to Harry Martin because his office is
- across from Kinko's.
- My children were attending school in Napa: one at the high
- school, one at the middle school, and the other two at the
- elementary school, that's kind of before you get to Napa. So I
- stopped to drop off this letter, and Harry didn't have time to
- talk, which was okay, because I didn't have time either. I was
- in the process of taking my son, who is 16 now, out of that high
- school and moving him to a different one for his own good,
- because of some difficulties he was having with a couple of
- teenagers there that he didn't like. My kids have been in home
- school for many years and they're just now being subjected to the
- pressure that I know most kids I know are subjected to all the
- time. Then I went to pick Chris up then I dropped him off to
- sign at a school. I took the three girls with me, all the three
- girls with me, went to Kinko's, they helped me, you know, fix my
- mistakes with the correction fluid.
- We went back to pick up Chris and the Napa county District
- Attorney, his investigator met me at my car and asked me if I was
- who I was, and I said yes. He didn't say that I was under
- arrest, he didn't say there was a charge against me. He asked if
- I would walk away from the car to talk to him for a minute, "Just
- to clear something up." At that particular time I honestly
- thought that my son had finally and truly lost his temper and
- punched this boy in the face while I was gone. So I said
- "Certainly." And I said "Did Chris do anything wrong?" He said
- "No no no, we just need to clear something up." and he walked me
- over to his car. He reached into the front seat of this red
- sports car that he was driving and he said "Are these your
- children, and is this you?" He showed me the pictures from the
- Justice Departments little branch called The National Center for
- Missing and Exploited Children, which used to be a private
- organization, and it is no longer. It is a part of the Justice
- Department. Ninety percent of those children have something to
- do with a custody problem - they're with one of their parents,
- most of them. Very few of them are missing for another reason.
- My children, they would not give my ex-husband the time of day
- until after Michael was arrested. In April (1991), after Michael
- was arrested ... suddenly, I started, in the mail, from ADVO
- (sp?), getting my youngest child's picture, along with mine,
- "Have you seen us?" from all my friends. All over the country.
- "Guess what I got in the mail? A good picture of Kate, eh, you
- don't look so good." So, when he asked me, what could I say? In
- one hand I've got these letters to the Brooks committee, and this
- man on the other side of me is asking me "Is this you and are
- these your children?" And I said "Oh ya," not a bad picture, I
- wish they wouldn't of stolen them out of the house, but, you
- know, hey, we have to do what we can these days, I guess. I paid
- for those pictures, I said "I paid for those."
- About that time the District Attorney got in the back seat
- and said "You're not in control here anymore. You're under
- arrest." I said "No I'm not. He didn't tell me I was under
- arrest, I'm just talking to him." You guys need to understand
- that my husband just filed some papers this morning and I'm in
- the process of working with the Brooks committee. Call Jack
- Brooks, he'll vouch for me, I'm just a mom. He said "Nope, cuff
- her."
- I have to say, that for the most part, the law enforcement,
- and the people on the level that I had to deal with as
- individuals in Napa county were very very straight forward, when
- they got the facts in the case. They were very cordial when they
- could be. Had it not been for some of them, bad things could
- have really happened. They were very careful. Because at the
- time I was also in the process of moving classified documents in
- the back seat of my car. And so, I told my children to get out
- of the car, when I walked away the first time, my son locked it
- and put the keys in his pocket, they were still standing with the
- car, and before they took me away, they had called the local
- squad car to show up and I looked at the man and I said "Don't do
- this in front of my babies, we don't have to do it this way," and
- he agreed, even though the D.A. was hoping mad. He covered my
- hands with the newspaper and drove me over to where my kids were
- standing so I could tell Liz not to be scared. I asked Julie "Do
- you have my address book?" She said "Yep." I said "Call Harry
- first and call Virginia second and tell her what's going on
- because this is not okay." I didn't know it, but the third call
- she made was to an attorney, for herself and her siblings. I
- guess something hit home.

- The right thing to do is never the easiest thing to do. The
- moral, ethical, and most compassionate imperative from within
- your heart may in fact be the most difficult. To be informed is
- important, to tell others is even more important, but without
- tangible action, our efforts are meaningless.
