  1. Bill Cramer has modified TheNews to allow access to NetNews/CD without 
  2. the need for MacTCP.  He has modified his news reader to allow the news 
  3. to be accessed from any Macintosh storage device.  This implementation 
  4. supports the NetNews/CD completely.  It is an excellent news reader, and
  5. is included on this CD for Macintosh users.  Please honor the shareware 
  6. payment request.

  8. In the future, the hope is that all of the common Mac news readers will
  9. be updated to allow the use of local storage devices (CDs, hard disks, 
  10. and floppys).  The interface used in this server is compatable with any 
  11. local storage devices, not just CDs.  Can you imagine taking your portable 
  12. along on vacation, with a few megabytes of news dumped to floppys, in order 
  13. to catch up on reading your favorite newsgroups!
