- So what??? Nothing in uucp needs to have advance knowledge of the device name
- to be used for inbound "calls". Not for LAT, nor for mux-type terminal ports.

- uucp enforces no device/username pairing.

- To be sure, there are some circumstances where, through a combination of
- circumstances in the systems. and control. files, you might end up with such a
- pairing for outbound connections (e.g. the systems file entry for site foobar
- specifies a dialer type or line speed which is only available on one port as
- defined in the control. file). But this is sort of by accident.

- The only thing uucp knows about usernames is that each systems file entry for a
- neighbor system specifies the username with which that neighbor is allowed to
- log in for inbound connections (the 'luser', for 'local user', field).

- There is some special stuff in uucico for outbound calls via LAT ports, but
- inbound has *always* worked.
