- Thanks for all the comments on claiming against a third
- party that damaged our car. I have had a couple of
- estimates for the repair, namely 800 quid and 2000 quid,
- both from Audi garages. The car is an 1983 Audi 80 GL,
- and the trade would probably list it as worth 700 quid.
-
- The car was looked after very well by my brother for
- most of its life and it is a gem. It drives beautifully
- and is functionally and bodily perfect in every way
- (like my wife :-) I can see no functional difference
- between our Audi and my brothers Mercedes costing
- 7000 quid. They have in fact the same mileage. The Audi
- is totally reliable, starts first time every time,
- economical and glides along silently on the motorway.
- It has central locking, electric windows - the works.
- The only thing wrong with it is the impacted boot caused
- by said party.
-
- The question is, can I force the offending party to pay
- for the repair of the car, rather than being offered
- only 700 quid? There is no way I can find a car like
- that for 700 quid on the open market, as I got it from
- my brother. I would rather use it in its damaged state
- than have to give it up for an paltry 700 quids.
